6 Ways to Build a Great HVAC Service Relationship From the Start

But, if by now you’re considering a new commercial HVAC system, it’s essential that you carefully research the provider that will be maintaining your components. As such, selecting a HVAC preventative maintenance agreement is critically important. (There have been considerable advances in the technology of heating and air conditioning units, so it’s not advisable that business owners undertake maintenance on their own.)

Still, it can be overwhelming to choose a service provider. There are many in the Tri-state market, and you’ll need to find one that has the right amount of expertise. While price is a consideration, you should certainly not sacrifice quality for cost.

When it comes to selecting a commercial HVAC service agreement, here are a few pointers on choosing the best fit:

  1. Ask for referrals from other business owners, especially those in your industry and immediate geographic area. You can rarely do better than word of mouth and reputation, and you’ll find that happy business owners are more than willing to provide details about their HVAC service experience.
  2. Often, you’ll find special offers and discounts on a commercial HVAC service and you may be able to spend less money. You might find savings in the form of reductions on service agreements or installation costs, or possibly by rebate on qualifying equipment.
  3. Understand that a premises evaluation is necessary to the process, and is always a good sign of quality and dedication in a service provider. Most companies will offer to do the inspection during off hours. If they are going to be servicing your HVAC system on an ongoing basis, they need to know what to expect.
  4. Make sure the service agreement includes thorough estimates of cost, for both labor and equipment. Also, ensure that the work and components are subject to the appropriate warranties. Make sure to let the companies that you’re negotiating with know that you are shopping around for the best service at the right price.
  5. When you’ve narrowed down the number of companies that you are considering hiring, ask for customer referrals and testimonials. These people have been through the process and can tell you firsthand about their experiences. They can also offer some insight regarding HVAC equipment service performance, and other details that might help you make a final decision.
  6. If you’re happy with the job your service provider has done with your commercial HVAC system, let others know. Being able to help other business owners make the right decisions in this complicated area is beneficial to the community as a whole.

When considering a commercial HVAC service agreement, the process is not to be taken lightly. Like any other significant business decision, you need to carefully weigh the pros and cons. Responsible vetting of providers is also essential to ensuring that your equipment will last for years to come. Take proper time to research companies, listen to other business owners, and get everything in writing before taking the plunge. And remember, investment time upfront ensures fewer headaches later.
